WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for Dexter: Resurrection episode 10.
Following the Dexter: Resurrection season 1 finale, there are only a handful of people who still know the truth about Dexter Morgan being the Bay Harbor Butcher. These key figures could make Dexter’s life more difficult in the expected second season of Dexter: Resurrection.
Of the 25 main characters who discover that Dexter is a serial killer throughout the entire franchise, such as Debra Morgan, James Doakes, Brian Moser, Maria LaGuerta, and Leon Prater, only four are left standing by the end of Dexter: Resurrection season 1.
Although Miami Metro homicide detective Joey Quinn made a few appearances throughout Dexter: Resurrection season 2, he was unaware that Angel Batista had gone to New York with the intention of exposing Dexter as the Bay Harbor Butcher.
That said, he was suspicious that Dexter killed Rita in season 5 of the original series and did witness Dexter kill Oliver Saxon in season 8, even though he classified it as self-defense. Regardless, Quinn doesn’t know Dexter’s biggest secrets, but he may certainly want to find out in Dexter: Resurrection season 2.
In the same vein, the new Resurrection character, Al Jolly, also known as the Rapunzel killer, knows that Dexter is a killer but still appears to believe that Dexter is the NYC Dark Passenger rideshare killer, Ronald “Red” Schmidt. However, Al may have been avoiding Dexter, skipping town when they had plans to meet up in Resurrection episode 8, if he had somehow learned his secret, but that is unconfirmed.

Charlotte “Charley” Brown is the only character who makes it out alive in Resurrection that knows Dexter is the real Bay Harbor Butcher. Fortunately for Dexter, Charley doesn’t seem to care at all about bringing him to justice like Angel or making him a permanent guest of honor like Prater.
All Charlley cares about by the end of Dexter: Resurrection is getting the hell out of New York City with her sick mother. She plans to head back to Amherst, Massachusetts, where she grew up, and leave all this Prater mess behind.
Since Dexter helped Charley out by revealing that Prater had kept a secret file on her that he could use to blackmail or extort her, Charley and Dexter are considered even. In fact, she may not even be aware that he ever escaped Prater’s serial killer shrine vault. Once she hears about Prater’s disappearance, however, she’ll likely connect the dots.
There’s currently speculation among Dexter fans that Charley could return in Resurrection season 2 one way or another. Many hope that she will inadvertently become Dexter’s sidekick, who will take out the rest of the killers in Prater’s files that Dexter acquired in the season finale.
Charley would have to be in a pretty desperate position to do that, however, as she will likely be taking on full care of her mom and maybe even be returning to her teaching or law profession to make ends meet. While it would be fantastic to see Uma Thurman return in Resurrection season 2, odds are that Charley will be quietly fading into obscurity, keeping Dexter’s secret safe due to her other pressing priorities.
Harrison Morgan

Although Harrison nearly turned himself in to the NYPD in Resurrection episode 4, his loyalty to and connection with Dexter had grown immensely by the end of season 1. Without Harrison, Dexter would never have been able to escape Prater’s vault. If Harrison wanted to make his dad pay for his sins, then he surely would have done so by now.
Harrison reunited with Dexter in New Blood after years of separation, thinking that his father had died. He discovered that Dexter was living under the alias Jim Lindsay in upstate New York, where he was living a completely normal and quiet life without him. After Harrison’s adoptive mother, Hannah McKay, died, Harrison made a point to confront Dexter.
Harrison was a bit of a wild card in New Blood, full of anger and confusion about how to cope with Dexter after being abandoned by him all this time. Resurrection, however, makes several strides that strengthen their father-son relationship, which starts with Dexter growing a conscience and choosing to show up for Harrison in various ways.
At this point in the franchise, Harrison feels like the last person who would expose Dexter as the Bay Harbor Butcher. Even though he didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps as a vigilante murderer, he is keeping the family streak going with his interest in criminal justice.
That could make things complicated down the line, since he would have to carry the same secret that Harry did, which eventually led him to die by suicide. For now, Harrison’s lips should continue to be sealed, although he may want to distance himself from Dexter next season to pursue a more normal life, especially if his new love interest sticks around.
Angela Bishop
Angela Bishop was not featured whatsoever and hardly mentioned in New Blood, along with most of the Iron Lake characters. Despite putting Dexter in handcuffs for killing Matt Caldwell and accusing him of being the Bay Harbor Butcher, Anegla ended up saving Dexter’s life by rushing him to the hospital before getting out of town.
Angela allowed Harrison to flee after shooting Dexter, but called Batista beforehand, claiming that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher. This is what brings Batista to Iron Lake in the season premiere of Resurrection and ultimately what leads to his death in the finale.
Even though Dexter is told by Iron Lake police officer Teddy that Angela recanted her accusation that Dexter was the BHB, Batista took the tip and ran with it. Angela becomes increasingly irrelevant after Resurrection episode 1 and sort of feels swept under the rug within the franchise.
Sure, Angela letting Dexter off the hook and saving his life because he exposed Kurt Caldwell as being the killer of Angela’s missing friend Iris makes sense, but her storyline was wrapped up a bit too cleanly and quickly. Resurrection season 2 could bring her back into the mix, but after the critical acclaim of Resurrection season 1, it’s more likely that the franchise will continue to distance itself from the divisive New Blood.
Lumen Pierce
Lumen Pierce is the only character from the original series who is presumably alive and knows that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher. She last appeared in the season 5 finale, leaving Dexter in Miami, and has not appeared in the series since.
Lumen accidentally witnessed Dexter kill one of his victims, Boyd Fowler, in season 5, which forced Dexter to essentially hold her hostage. Eventually, she learned to trust Dexter and became his apprentice and romantic interest throughout the season. Together, Dexter and Lumen hunted down the members of the Barrel Girl Gang, who had tortured and sexually assaulted her.
Since Lumen and Dexter left things on good terms, Lumen isn’t really a threat to exposing Dexter’s Dark Passenger. There is, however, a very interesting connection between Lumen and Joey Quinn, because Quinn knew about Lumen staying at Dexter’s house in season 5.
If Quinn does go after Dexter to avenge Batista in Resurrection season 2, which would be pretty fantastic for the franchise, then he may remember Lumen and track her down as the only living link to Dexter. If Dexter: Resurrection doesn’t want to go that far back in the series, then the next natural person of interest for Quinn to investigate would be Angela.
