Katie Taylor is enjoying some well deserved time off in Italy with her new husband.
The boxing icon, who married American real estate agent Sean McCavanagh earlier this year, took to social media to share a snap of herself on a boat in Lake Garda with her partner, simply captioning the post “Lake Garda.”
Taylor and McCavanagh got married in early 2025 in a ceremony that is believed to have taken place in Ireland.
The Bray woman had fueled speculation that she was indeed married after she was spotted wearing what appeared to be a wedding ring in the build-up to her summer fight with Amanda Serrano.
After beating Serrano for a third time, Taylor’s father, Pete, confirmed in a podcast that Katie was indeed married.

In the past few weeks, Taylor and her husband have been spotted out in public on a number of occasions, including in Ireland were the duo visited a rehabilitation centre in Wicklow. During the visit, Taylor spoke to patients of the centre about her life in boxing and the ups and downs that come with sport.
Taylor, who became stepmother to five children when she married McCavanagh, hasn’t fought since July and the 39-year-old’s future remains uncertain.
It had been anticipated that the 2012 Olympic champion would retire following that third bout with Serrano, but three months on no definitive statement on her future has been made.
Croke Park has often been suggested as a venue for Taylor to make one last triumphant homecoming to Ireland, and while all parties involved appear to want to make that happen, promoter Eddie Hearn doesn’t believe it will come to fruition.
“After the last fight with Amanda Serrano, it’s the first time I’ve heard her say in a press conference ‘if I fight again’,” Hearn told Sky Sports in August.
“It’s been a remarkable career. It would be a great way to go out by winning the trilogy against Amanda Serrano but the lure of a Croke Park fight would be something quite spectacular
“If the Croke Park opportunity presents itself, it would be very difficult for her to turn down.”
