Doireann and Ailbhe Garrihy have completed a huge milestone together as the pair completed a 10km marathon.

The sisters have shared how much completing the marathon means to them, along with some adorable snaps with their kids.

Ailbhe, who shared a pic with her three sons, Cian, Sean and Fionn, shared a few sweet words, giving herself a well-deserved pat on the back.

She wrote: “Sub60 10km. A literal dream come true.

“Back in May I had a moment where I knew I had to start focusing on my health & fitness. 3 young boys keep you on your toes and I knew I needed to do it for them. It started with jogging for 1 minute, walking for 2, etc. After 4 weeks, I shared on here that I had started running, and honestly, the encouraging DMs after each and every run are what kept me going throughout the summer.

“Fast forward to today- running 10km with my best friend @doireanngarrihy for the most worthy cause @lauralynnhospice, being cheered on by my 3 boys and the best life partner I could have ever asked for @ruaidhrih I feel so beyond lucky.

‘We CAN do hard things.”

The third Garrihy sister, Aoibhin, commented under Ailbhe’s post: “What a time. So proud of you both.”

Doireann shared a snap celebrating with her little girl Rosie, whom she welcomed with her partner Mark, late last year.

She wrote: “First 10km and for @lauralynnhospice.”

On an Instagram story, Doireann shared a few more words: “When Aoibhin and Ailbhe and I did Speech and Drama as kids, we did a yearly showcase for Laura Lynn Hospice with our amazing teacher Maeve O’Donoghue. I will never forget her telling us back the story to the charity and the resilience and strength of Jane and Brendan McKenna.

“Now that I am a mom, I couldn’t think of a more worthwhile charity to support. Today was a special one…feeling beyond lucky and grateful.”
