Minister of State at the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport Charlie McConalogue says that the allocation of €3m in funding to League of Ireland academies reflects a Government ‘vote of confidence’ in the future of football in Ireland.
But his Government colleague Patrick O’Donovan, the senior minister in the area of Culture, Communications and Sport, has warned that the FAI will be on a ‘collision course’ with him if they repeat any of their behaviour around last month’s Oireachtas Committee appearance.
