Air pollution is linked to around 1,500 premature deaths in Ireland every year, despite an overall improvement in air quality.

A new EPA report shows Ireland met EU pollution limits last year, with harmful emissions declining over the past two decades.

However, pollution from household fires and traffic remains a health concern.

The EPA says further action is needed to meet stricter European air quality limits by 2030.
