James Blunt on the Celebrity Traitors uncloaked finale episode

James Blunt’s response to a joke made by Romesh Ranganathan has sparked outrage amongst fans as this year’s series of Celebrity Traitors drew to a close on Friday.

Following a disappointing series of hesitant villains and lacklustre gameplay, Celebrity Traitors 2026 finally delivered some genuine tension in a chaotic final showdown.

The Faithful emerged victorious, as actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan prevailed after eliminating James Blunt, King Kenny and Leigh Anne Pinnock in the End Game.

The pair secured £41,500 each for their chosen charities – Choose Love for Croft and the Refugee Council for Ranganathan.

Yet viewers who watched the Uncloaked finale on BBC One may have overlooked a poignant moment from James Blunt that has prompted a wave of sympathy for the ex Army Captain amongst some fans.

During the programme, winner Romesh Ranganathan joked that audiences hadn’t witnessed host Claudia Winkleman telling him and Sebastian ‘Bash’ Croft, ‘Thank God James Blunt has gone!’ after they voted him out of the End Game.

The remark triggered laughter throughout the BBC studio, though James appeared less than amused by the jibe when the camera focused on him.

Viewers have since noticed the moment a stony-faced James quietly asked Claudia, “Did you really say that?” – words that were subtly captured by the show’s microphones.

“He’s had too many people be openly nasty to him not to worry it might be true. I felt sorry for him,” said one fan who caught it.

“I heard it too, poor guy,” said another. “Showed he’s a nice guy by that. Just normal like anyone with overthinking and insecurities.

“He is so sensitive bless him,” added another.

Last night, James said he was ‘happy’ for the eventual winners despite his fellow Faithful removing him at the final hurdle.
