Over 100,000 bottles of a generic brand of acetaminophen — a common drug used to reduce fevers and relieve pain — has been recalled nationwide.
Prodose, Inc. recalled ValuHealth Extra Strength Pain Relief Acetaminophen 500 mg (40 count) over a labeling mix up, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The outer carton labeling is correct, but the inner label on the bottle wrongly describes the product as ValuHealth Extra Strength Pain Relief PM.
The product was voluntarily recalled Oct. 14, and on Oct. 26, the FDA labeled the recall Class III, which indicates “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
The recalled pain relief drug has lot number P260252 and an expiration date of April 30, 2029.
The acetaminophen caplets can be found at Dollar Tree, including in Kansas.
“Take ValuHealth Acetaminophen for Pain Relief and Fever to put a full stop to your pain,” the product description says. “You can have the capsule to relieve minor pain, backache, common cold, toothache, premenstrual and menstrual cramps, headache, and muscular aches.”
