David Henrie revealed the great advice he gave to his good friend Selena Gomez before her wedding day.

Gomez got married to producer Benny Blanco on Sept. 27 in an intimate wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. The wedding was attended by many of the couple’s friends, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Paris Hilton, the cast of Only Murders in the Building and Wizards of Waverly Place.

Gomez and Henrie first met in 2007 when they were both starring in Wizards of Waverly Place. Gomez, who was just 15 years old at the time, played Alex Russo, while Henrie portrayed Justin Russo, Alex’s older brother. The TV series, which aired from 2007 to 2012 on Disney Channel, followed the Russo Family — parents Jerry (David DeLuise) and Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera), and their three wizard children, Alex, Justin and Max (Jake T. Austin) — who must keep their magical abilities a secret from the human world. The plot involves the siblings competing in a family wizard competition to determine which of them will become a full-fledged wizard and keep their powers, while also learning to control their magic and navigate everyday teenage problems.

Henrie appeared on the Zach Sang Show on Wednesday to talk about the second season of the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, in which Gomez also serves as an executive producer and reprises her role as Alex in certain episodes. Fans can watch the first and second seasons on Disney+.

Though Henrie and his wife, Maria Cahill, were talking to Gomez during the wedding planning process, the actor revealed that they were not able to attend the actual ceremony because he had to work on a project out of state, and couldn’t make it back in time.

But, like the older brother he is, Henrie gave the “Who Says” singer some solid wedding advice prior to the ceremony.

“The best advice I got right before my wedding, someone pulled me aside and said, ‘Hey dude, hold your wife’s hand and take like a solid minute to just look around the room. Look at your wife and go, ‘this is our minute’ and like look around the room and just remember,'” Henrie revealed. “That’s like my one memory for my wedding, is that moment. So, I passed that on of just like, take a moment to just take it in.”

Henrie and his wife got married in April 2017 and now have three children.

Before his role on Wizards of Waverly Place, Henrie had several television appearances, including a leading role on the Fox sitcom The Pitts, as well as a recurring part as Larry on Disney’s That’s So Raven and Ted Mosby’s son on How I Met Your Mother. He also had guest roles on shows such as NCIS and Arrested Development.
