“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo, were arrested for fraud, Page Six can confirm.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Westminster, Md., exclusively told Page Six that the married couple, who was taken into custody Thursday, would be released Friday after placing a $50,000 bond each.

Wendy, 41, was charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and false statement to a police officer.

She faces a total of 16 charges, including seven for felony false/misleading info fraud in excess of $300, eight for misdemeanor on-false/mislead info fraud in excess of $300 and a misdemeanor charge of a false statement to an officer, per the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.

Eddie, meanwhile, faces a total of 18 charges, including nine for felony false/misleading info fraud in excess of $300, eight for misdemeanor on-false/mislead info fraud in excess of $300 and a misdemeanor charge for allegedly making a false statement to an officer.

The charges stem from a burglary the couple reported in April 2024, in which Wendy claimed several of her designer bags and jewelry were stolen while they were on vacation in Jamaica.

However, per docs obtained by Us Weekly Friday, authorities have cast doubt on the validity of the theft.

Investigators explained in the filing that “to go in or out of” a particular window at the Osefos’ home “one has to step on the toilet,” but Sheriff’s office personnel found the toilet lid was down with “no debris on it.”

They also pointed out that the couple had an ADT home security system and a Ring camera.

“The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system upon leaving for vacation,” the court docs state. “During the time they were away, there was no motion detected inside the residence. There was activity, such as package deliveries, on the ring camera that was monitored remotely by the Osefos.”

Investigators also claim Eddie gave statements to two insurance companies about the “stolen” items.

“He was asked if he had other insurance but failed to disclose to Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance,” the docs state, adding that Eddie and Wendy both signed statements claiming $450,000 in property loss.

In his original claim to Travelers, Eddie allegedly stated that he and Wendy were wearing their anniversary bands when the burglary occurred. However, he later called the insurance company to update the claim to allege that his wife’s gold diamond anniversary band had actually gone missing.

That same day, the claim was settled for $25,380, which included a $4,500 replacement fee for the band.

Following growing suspicious over the reports and an investigation, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies claimed Wendy had been seen on social media wearing the ring in question and discovered at the same time that the Osefos were “burdened by substantial debt.”

Their investigation determined that numerous items the couple claimed were stolen had been returned to a store, “where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.”

On Friday, Wendy and Eddie’s mugshots were released, as they awaited their release from jail. The pics showed them each smiling and wearing matching gray T-shirts, which appeared to be inmate attire.

Wendy was bare-faced and only wore false lashes, while sporting a half-up, half-down ‘do.

A rep for the Osefos tells Page Six Friday on behalf of the couple, “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits.

“They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”

TMZ was first to report the news of the arrests.

Wendy, who joined “RHOP” in 2020, previously worked as a commentator on CNN and holds multiple college degrees, including a Ph.D. in public affairs.

The Osefos’ arrests come shortly after another Potomac “Housewife” got out of legal hot water.

In September, Page Six exclusively reported that Karen Huger had been released from prison after serving six months for a driving under the influence charge.

The reality star — dubbed the “Grand Dame” of Potomac — was found guilty of DUI in December 2024 after wrecking her Maserati in a high-speed crash earlier that year.
