Data released by Wicklow County Council has revealed that, as of September 3, the local authority had received 29 planning applications for developments with a solar component this year, suggesting a return to peak volumes over a five-year period after a dip in applications in 2024.

Providing a breakdown of submitted applications, including those approved, refused, pending or incomplete, a Wicklow County Council (WCC) spokesperson detailed how 145 applications with a solar component have been lodged in the Garden County since 2021, 19 of which were incomplete.
