Scarlett Johansson smartened up her baggy jeans with a blazer as she spoke at a panel for her new film Eleanor The Great at the Toronto Film Festival.

The 40-year-old actress made a glamorous appearance at the showbiz event on Sunday, where she led a talk on her new project.

The Avengers star was dressed to the nines for the festival, which saw the likes of Channing Tatum and Sydney Sweeney attend.

Scarlett wore a silk blue shirt and baggy jeans which she paired with a camel-coloured suede oversized blazer that featured stylish upturned sleeves.

She beamed as she chatted to British actress Erin Kellyman, 26, and American sweetheart June Squibb, 95, with whom she worked with on the upcoming release.

Scarlett has made her first directorial debut with the film – which sees 90-year-old Eleanor (played by June) move to New York City for a fresh start, where she befriends a 19-year-old student (played by Erin).

The film made a splashy debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Speaking about her upcoming film at the panel, Scarlett credited her directorial instincts in part to experiences with Robert Redford, who directed her in The Horse Whisperer when she was 13.

She explained: ‘That was transformative for me. I understood I was getting so much more from him as an actor. He encouraged discovery – and that’s stayed with me.’

Scarlett went on to share how she didn’t want the film to come across as overly preachy or political.

The star continued: ‘I don’t feel all movies have to deliver a message. Just being able to sit in somebody else’s shoes for an hour and 40 minutes – that’s enough.’

Since working together on the project, Scarlett and June grew close and shared how they would be more than willing to team up again, for Saturday Night Live.

‘June’s gonna be in New York doing a play, so I’ll just have to steal her for a Saturday,’ Scarlett confessed.

She added: ‘We can co-host, or we could do the Weekend Update together.’

Meanwhile, British star Erin previously spoke about the bonding experience she had with actress June during filming.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘It just felt like girls being girls. There’s no age on that.’

Erin and June lived in the same apartment building for the eight-week shoot, which allowed the pair to get closer.

They would have dinner parties on Saturdays and Erin says she would ask June for her outfit advice.

Erin auditioned for the role in December 2023, which led to multiple Zoom calls with Scarlett.

She then started filming just weeks later in February 2024.

Eleanor The Great is set for release on September 26.
