Seen & Heard: 50th anniversary for Hemingway Gallery

HEMINGWAY GALLERY CELEBRATES 50 YEARS
Hemingway African Gallery & Safaris moved to Tribeca in 2019, but the second generation business now run by siblings Logan and Tuck Gaisford was founded in 1975 by their father, Brian Gaisford, and his friend Gregory Hemingway, the grandson of the writer. (It’s a good NYC story.) The gallery side of the business brings artwork from across Africa to new audiences. And the travel side is dedicated to educating and inspiring patrons by spreading awareness of African artists, art preservation and wildlife conservation.

ANOTHEROOM HAS CLOSED
Anotheroom, which is one of the businesses closing now that the corner of Walker/West Broadway/Sixth has sold, has closed. Their plan is to move just south of The Odeon. Tribeca Park Cafe closed Friday.

NEW YORK TEXTILE MONTH

The exhibit at the studio also includes work of textile artist Hatsumi Yoshida; their work focuses on layering materials, dyeing techniques, hand-stitching and unexpected embellishments. There will be an artist Talk on Saturday, September 6, from 2-3p.

JFK JR. IN HIS OLD HAUNTS
The Trib caught the shooting of the new series about JFK Jr. — eerie shots. Actors Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon are portraying Kennedy and his wife, Carolyn Bessette, in Ryan Murphy’s “American Love Story.”
