Goldie Hawn might be about to celebrate her milestone 80th birthday on November 21, though her son Oliver Hudson revealed she doesn’t want an elaborate party for the big day.

While discussing his upcoming Netflix holiday rom-com A Merry Little Ex-Mas, Oliver, 49, told People why the holidays are the “best time of the year” for his family.

“We’ve got Thanksgiving coming up. We have November 21st coming up, which I say I’m most looking forward to because of my mom’s 80th birthday,” he said of Hawn, 79.

After he was asked how Hawn plans to celebrate her upcoming birthday, Oliver shared that they’re keeping it simple. “We’re going to keep it pretty chill because that’s what she wants,” he said.

“I mean, trust me, I brought up everything like, ‘Should we go to India?’ And she just wants to keep it cool so we’re just going to keep it very, very family,” he continued. “And Thanksgiving, and then of course the holidays, Christmas, that’s where we all get together throughout the year — tight, tight family.”

While his family clearly loves spending time together, Hudson admitted it’s hard to get everyone together due to their busy schedules. Hawn shares Oliver and daughter Kate Hudson with ex Bill Hudson, while she is also the proud mom to son Wyatt Russell with longtime partner Kurt Russell. Bill, 75, was not part of his children’s lives, so Kurt, 74, stepped in to help raise Oliver and Kate, 46.

“Wyatt’s doing this over here. I’m over here, Kate’s working here, so we’re always scattered and doing our thing and this is the three weeks where we are all together,” Oliver continued of his family before adding, “It’s the most special time of the year for sure.”

Hawn has been in the spotlight for several decades, which has allowed fans to see her grow and evolve over the years. Back in 2019, she candidly opened up about what it was like to age in Hollywood.

“Getting older is a fact of life,” she previously told Porter magazine, according to Hola! “By living mindfully you understand that there are many transitions in life. You just go through them.”

She went on to note that aging is “all about how you make it.” Hawn continued, “It’s in your mind. It’s wonderful to know you’re aging, because that means you’re still on the planet, right?”
