Heavy rain is set to hit southern areas over the weekend with Status Yellow warnings issued for three counties.

Met Éireann said spells of heavy rain, with the possibility of a few thundery downpours, are expected and issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry from 5pm tomorrow until 5am on Sunday.

It has warned of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

A separate Status Yellow rain warning will be in place for Waterford from 8pm tomorrow night until 8am on Sunday, with spells of heavy, possibly thundery rain forecast.
