NEW YORK — The new season of “The View” kicked off on Monday, reuniting hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin for hot topics and plenty of conversation.

Entertainment reporter Joelle Garguilo caught up with the ladies on set to talk about their views on a new season.

Joelle Garguilo: Sunny, what is your view on having another season? Lucky No. 29 of the show.

Sunny Hostin: It’s surreal. This is my 10th season. So, I got off the phone with Star Jones, Sherry Shepherd. I’m apparently an OG now.

Garguilo: Conversations you’d like to have this season.

Hostin: You know, I’ve spoken to, you know, a lot of living presidents. I would like President Barack Obama to come on the show.

Whoopi Goldberg: Maybe Pope Leo. I mean, I’d love to have a conversation and find out how he’s seeing the world and what he wants folks to think about.

Garguilo: What is your view on a new season of the show?

Alyssa Farah Griffin: My view on a new season of the show… huge opportunities. I come from a political background, so I don’t mean to always view things in that lens. But, like, we’re heading into the midterms. This is going to be the place for candidates to be coming and making the case on why they deserve to be reelected.

Joy Behar: We’re going to bring the comedy corner back. Ken Jeong is coming on Friday. Ken Jeong started on “The View” in the comedy corner, and now he’s a big star, and he’s coming back on Friday.

Sara Haines: I love every season we get because it’s the unknown, the unhad conversation.

Garguilo: I had asked you this last year, and I want to see what your answer is this year. What still excites you about going to work?

Goldberg: Getting paid.

Behar: The fact that we still can say it and speak our mind.

Hostin: The ladies, it’s just it’s very exciting to be able to see your girls every single day and work with them.

Ana Navarro: It is amazing the legacy that Barbara Walters built and that 29 years later, people tune in — that viewers tune in, some who have been tuning in for 29 years to hear and watch what the ladies of “The View” have to say.

You can watch all-new episodes of “The View” on weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
