Planning permission has been refused by Waterford City & County Council for the construction of 126 homes in Dungarvan.
Cosmo Developments Dungarvan Limited sought permission for a large scale residential development on lands at Kilrush, Dungarvan.
The proposed development would consist of 126 housing units and a stand alone single-storey creche.
The applicant sought to construct 102 two-storey terraced and semi-detached homes made up of 50 3-bed units and 52 4-bed units as well as two three-storey apartment blocks comprising 12 apartments each.
In a ruling on September 2nd, Waterford City and County Council noted that the planning authority is not satisfied that the existing stormwater network can accommodate the impact of the proposed development given the existing capacity constraints in the network and having due regard to severe flooding events which have happened downstream of the site.
It is not considered that the drainage proposals would represent a sustainable approach to the servicing of the proposed development.
It was thus ruled that the proposed development is considered premature until necessary infrastructural works are in place.
