Kay Byrne helps Ireland to team gold at European Masters Championships

Kay Byrne added her third medal at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Madeira.

The Finn Valley AC athlete helped Ireland W45s to team gold in the half marathon on Sunday morning.

Byrne clocked 1:42.01 and joined Catherine O’Connor and Anne Hegarty on the winning Irish team.

Ireland took victory from Germany and Portugal.

This completes a superb championships for Byrne, who also won W40 team silver in the 10k and W60 team silver in the 8km cross country.
