James Bond 26 has one of Hollywood’s rising stars rumored for a pivotal role, as the star finally breaks the silence on the reports. While Daniel Craig’s time as 007 is over, the iconic spy is about to enter his next era, with Amazon MGM Studios becoming the new home for the James Bond franchise.
In a new feature from Variety, Sydney Sweeney was asked if she could comment on the rumors about her being eyed to be the next Bond girl in Amazon’s upcoming installment. However, rather than giving a simple yes or no to the question, Sweeney shared the following response:
“I can’t. [Seven-second pause.] I don’t know. [Ten-second pause.] To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it.”
While keeping it tight-lipped about her rumored involvement, the trade followed up with whether the Euphoria star would be interested in joining Bond 26 at all. Sweeney stressed that it “depends on the script. I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”
A tradition that has existed with the franchise for decades is the addition of a new Bond Girl, with most only appearing once. Previous Bond Girls include Denise Richards, Halle Berry, Michelle Yeoh, Famke Janssen, Teri Hatcher, and Eva Green.
Amy Pascal and David Heyman are set to shepherd the franchise through their production banners, Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films. On June 25, 2025, Dune and Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve was confirmed to helm Bond 26, which is being written by Steven Knight.

Landing the role as a Bond Girl would be another major boost to her career, as the actress is booking more roles than ever. However, it’s unclear if Bond 26 will stick to the concept of tapping majorly established names.
The trade noted that Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is reportedly really interested in wanting to see the 28-year-old actor be cast as a Bond Girl, adding, “She did attend his wedding to Lauren Sánchez in June, and the trio are tangentially in business together on Sweeney’s new lingerie line.” According to Deadline on September 24, 2025, the casting for James Bond will begin in 2026, with the goal of finding an unknown British talent.
As of right now, James Bond 26 does not have a release date set yet.
