A centre in county Longford for people with disabilities has received a hugely positive report from the health watchdog.
An unannounced inspection of St. Christopher’s Services was carried out in July, the details of which have been published today.
The centre provides residential care to three adults (each housed in their own bungalow) in two properties in Longford town and one in Legan village.
Residents have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, complex needs, sensory and behavioural support requirements.
Inspectors found that residents were comfortable, well-supported, and had strong connections with families and local community activities.
Homes were described as bright, well-equipped, accessible and “homely” with personal items, gardens and appropriate facilities.
Staff received regular and up-to-date training, supervision and appraisal processes.
While communication supports were in use and effectively tailored to residents’ individual needs.
Fire-safety procedures, risk management, and healthcare supports (GP / allied health professionals) were all judged compliant.
