The debacle of catering returning to Irish Rail routes in the west of the country continues to roll on, following the news that no funding has been guaranteed for the service to be re-introduced on the Inter-City routes.

Yesterday, Irish Rail confirmed to Midwest Radio that funding has not been guaranteed for the tea trolley to return on routes leaving from places such as Ballina or Sligo, and heading for Dublin, despite reports earlier in the week in national media.

This has been described as disappointing by several politicians this side of the country, as Iarnród Éireann say the cost of providing the service has become extremely expensive since the Covid-19 Pandemic.
