The world champion boxer and her husband visited Tiglin men’s rehabilitation centre in Ashford on Sunday.

It is understood that the couple tied the knot earlier this year. The pair appear to be keeping their marriage private as Ms Taylor (39) has not spoken publicly about her wedding.

However, the Irish Independent has learned that the new groom’s first name is Sean (or Shaun) and that he is American.

The Bray native was first seen wearing a wedding band at press events before her latest bout with Amanda Serrano in July.

It comes as Ms Taylor’s father, Pete, confirmed his daughter had married when speaking on the Anything Goes with James English podcast in July.

Taylor and her husband visited the Tiglin Men’s Centre in Ashford, Co Wicklow, where Ms Taylor spoke about her journey to becoming the undisputed women’s world champion.

She spoke to Tiglin residents, many of whom are working to rebuild their lives after struggling with addiction through Tiglin’s residential rehabilitation programme.

Senator Aubrey McCarthy, founder of Tiglin, gave the couple a tour of the facility. He said Ms Taylor’s husband has been “very supportive” of his wife in her boxing career.

“Katie told her life story. She spoke about how she got married, and she spoke about how her focus was on boxing for years, and about how she was the first woman to bring professional boxing to the Olympics. She’s been a pioneer in a lot of areas,” he added.

“I introduced her to the guys and the girls. So there’s about 120 of our students residents there. She spent three hours with us, we had tea, [her] mum Bridget [Taylor] was there. She spent time with the guys, and she spoke about her life and America.”

“A lot of my guys and my girls are in recovery, She really spoke to them about how you can turn your life around,” he added.

Senator McCarthy added that he congratulated the happy couple on their marriage.

“We were humbled to welcome the undisputed world champion, Katie Taylor, her husband, and family to Tiglin,” he said.

“Her quiet strength and powerful message uplifted everyone in the room. Katie reminded us that recovery, like boxing, demands courage, discipline, and heart,” he added.
