From stylish New York hotels to steak in Kerry, the sportsman on some of his favourite people, places and things

Paul Galvin’s designs for life
Favourite places: Any big city in the early morning, particularly New York. My home county of Kerry is full of great places to visit. While Killarney and Dingle steal the headlines, Fenit, on the coast just outside Tralee, is up-and-coming. It’s great for a swim and has a string of good restaurants like the Oyster and Tralee Golf Club. Down south, Kenmare has its own art and design identity with top hotels, galleries and events to enjoy.
I am a lover of hotels so I have a lot of favourites. Ace Hotel New York, The Bowery New York and Villa d’Este Lake Como come to mind. In Ireland, I love an old country house with high ceilings.
