Episode 10 picks up a few months later on Thanksgiving. Belly is still in Paris, and she’s sharing an apartment with roommates. In her narration, she confesses that after three months abroad, she feels weak, homesick and still really bad at French. Despite attending online classes and working two under-the-table jobs, she’s missing her friends and family. But Belly’s hesitant to return home because she still needs time in Paris to figure everything out.
Belly FaceTimes Taylor, who’s celebrating Friendsgiving with Jere and Steven. When Belly asks how Jere is doing, Taylor answers that he’s still the same. Taylor wants to know if Belly’s coming home for Christmas, but instead, Belly asks Taylor to come to Paris for New Year’s since her roommates will be out of town.

Before ending the call, Belly asks Taylor to tell Jeremiah she says hi. When Taylor looks over, Jere is kissing a girl in the kitchen. It turns out her name is Olivia, one of Steven’s colleagues, and she’s not the only person he’s been hooking up with. He’s apparently been trying to get with Taylor’s friends, too, instead of processing his feelings following the breakup.
Jeremiah has been ignoring Conrad’s texts, including a recent message wishing him a Happy Thanksgiving. Adam unexpectedly shows up to Friendsgiving. Over dinner, we learn that Jeremiah turned down the Breaker gig at his firm and decided to finish his semester at Finch. But he’s lying to the people around him. His friends didn’t know he was taking classes, while he lied and told his dad he was staying at the fraternity house. It turns out he’s not going to school after all.
After a heated argument, Adam decides to cut Jeremiah off financially. Steven and Taylor also tell him that it’s time for him to get a job and stop sleeping on Steven’s couch. Denise reluctantly agrees to let Jeremiah crash at her apartment while he gets his life together.
Why Does Conrad Write A Letter To Belly?

Conrad calls Laurel and asks if it’s okay if he comes to Christmas while Jere is there. He also asks if that will be okay with Belly, but Laurel informs him that she’s staying in Paris for the holidays. He mentions he’s considering reaching out to her, but he’s not sure if it’s a good idea. Laurel advises him to take the risk and find out.
Conrad sits down with a notepad and begins writing a letter to Belly. In it, he imagines what her life in Paris might be like, including what drinks she’s drinking, what pastries she’s eating and how she might be different over there. He wishes her a Merry Christmas and says he hopes Paris is everything she dreamed it would be.
What Happens At Christmas?
On Christmas Eve, Belly spends the night alone at the bar. She sends a text to Jeremiah saying Merry Christmas, but he doesn’t respond. Benito unexpectedly shows up after he was initially supposed to be in London. He wants Belly to come with him, but Belly says she’s going to stay at the bar. After playing darts, she changes her mind and decides to go with him.
Meanwhile, back in the States, Conrad is spending Christmas in Cousins with Belly’s family, and they’re waiting for Jeremiah to arrive (he’s finishing a shift at a restaurant). Conrad asks Steven if everyone still hates him, but Steven assures him that they don’t. Well, Jere does, but Steven admits that he doesn’t know how to be around Conrad with everything going on.
Adam finally discovers that Denise and Steven are secretly starting a company and seeking funding from one of his friends. Rather than being angry, Adam is impressed by Steven’s initiative and decides not to fire him. But Steven responds by quitting anyway.
Jeremiah apologizes to Laurel about his behavior at the wedding, admitting that it still hurts, and that Belly was always the one who made it better. Jere’s not ready to talk to Belly yet or go into the beach house. He can’t stop thinking about Belly and Conrad together in there. Jere later tells Denise that losing Belly was more painful than losing his mom. Denise encourages Jere to forgive everyone who hurt him so that they don’t hold power over him. She invites Jere to come to her family’s Christmas so he won’t be alone.

Taylor visits Belly in Paris for New Year’s Eve. While Taylor’s there, Jere calls Belly. She tells him how sorry she is, and she regrets the way that they ended things. But Jere doesn’t want to talk about the past. He wants Belly to know that he’s doing okay. Benito shows up at the party and officially meets Taylor. He gives Belly a package that was left downstairs — and it’s from Conrad. He sent her Sour Patch Kids, another letter and the Junior Mint stuffed animal he won for Belly at the boardwalk.
When Taylor asks if Conrad sending letters is the reason she’s holding back on pursuing things with Benito, Belly assures her that it’s nothing. She’s actually afraid of hurting someone else. But Taylor says that’s inevitable, and she can’t live her life that way. Belly walks over to Benito as the clock strikes midnight and kisses him.
Belly’s graduation at Finch is approaching. Belly’s dating Benito, and she clarifies to Gemma that he knows she has to return to her real life eventually. Gemma tries to get her to stay in Paris permanently and offers her apartment. Belly brings the idea up to her Mom and explains that she could make it work by staying in Paris longer and getting her student visa. “I’m really happy here,” Belly says, forgetting it’s the anniversary of Susannah’s death.
Does Jeremiah Forgive Conrad?
Conrad and Jeremiah run into each other at the cemetery, both bringing flowers to Susannah’s grave. It’s been five years since her passing. Conrad apologizes again, expressing how sorry he is. Jeremiah still resents Conrad for pretending to help with the wedding while trying to sabotage it. Meanwhile, Conrad can’t believe that Jeremiah would cheat on Belly in Cabo. Jeremiah reveals he only did that because of what happened between Conrad and Belly on Christmas.
“When you had the chance to be with her a month after she and I broke up, you took it. You think that didn’t f*ck me up? You think that was easy for me?” Conrad says.
Jeremiah admits he never wanted to discuss Christmas because he knew once he brought it up, their relationship would truly be over. Conrad confesses he tried to stop loving Belly while keeping his promise to their mother that he would always protect Jeremiah. Jeremiah reveals he also made a promise to their mom — that he wouldn’t let anything come between them as brothers. They embrace and make up.
Jeremiah also appears to give Conrad his blessing to pursue Belly.
“I never could compete with what you two had,” Jere adds. “Do what you have to do,” he continues, “don’t expect me to be okay with it, but don’t f*cking waste it either.”

Conrad writes a letter to Belly telling her that he saw Jeremiah and that things are much better between them. “It killed me a little that Jere’s talked to you,” he writes. “Also, in case I haven’t made it clear, I think about you a lot. You’re pretty much all I think about.”
Meanwhile, Belly is settling into her new apartment in Paris. Benito asks her again to join him in Mexico for his grandmother’s birthday party. He jokingly promises he won’t propose to her in front of his entire family.
Belly finally sits down to write Conrad back. On the postcard, she thanks him for sending Junior Mint and for all his letters. She mentions that she’s found a permanent apartment in Paris and this is her new address. Her letter is brief and ends with “I hope you’re well.”
In California, Conrad packs for an upcoming conference in Brussels. Agnes subtly points out that Brussels isn’t far from Paris. In the final scene, Conrad changes his flight destination to Paris instead. Meanwhile, Belly is getting ready for her birthday weekend, and she’s at the hair salon for a new look to mark the next chapter in her life.
