Ann Duffield has announced she is retiring from training at the end of the year after sending out more than 500 winners in a career stretching back to 1992.

She and husband George Duffield, a former leading jockey, will remain in charge of the pre-training and luxury lodge businesses at Sun Hill Farm near Leyburn in North Yorkshire.

However, the licence is to be taken over by Stephen Hanlon, a 31-year-old who has worked for Willie Mullins and then Ralph Beckett.
