Now that six episodes have hit the airwaves, it’s fair to say that the majority of the country is engrossed in The Traitors Ireland.
The RTÉ iteration of the global franchise has made for compelling viewing over the last ten days or so, bringing some incredible personalities into the public consciousness. Paudie has become a national treasure despite his status as a traitor, while his former co-conspirator Eamon has been deemed as public enemy no. 1 after his clash with the Limerick man.
Somewhere in the middle you Katelyn, the third of the show’s original traitors.

Katelyn Says Cut Footage Explains Why She Turned On Paudie In The Traitors Ireland

Katelyn became the second traitor banished from The Traitors Ireland on Tuesday night, meaning that Paudie is the only member of original trio is left standing. That is a rather ironic turn of events when you consider that Eamon and Katelyn had conspired to eliminate him in the previous few shows.
Eamon has taken a huge amount of criticism over the comments he has made about Paudie both on and after the airing of the show, while Katelyn has also received some negative reaction over the way she spoke to the former prison guard at times.
However, it seems as though the editors of the show might not have included the full context behind the testy interaction between the three at the infamous conclave.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1, Katelyn said that he has huge time for Paudie despite butting heads with him on the show. She also suggested that some of the context around their clashes on air had been cut from the final edit.
I think we might have been the most iconic traitors trio that has existed in the history of the franchise. I call us ‘the toxic trio’ and I’m sure we’re going to have a great laugh about it over a pint very soon…
When Andrew approached me and told me that Paudie had thrown my name out, I knew I was in hot water from that stage. It was kind of hard to navigate what to do next from there.
I know people ‘she should have brought up Paudie’s name at the round table’, but if I hadn’t Andrew would have suspected me. It was a tricky situation to know what to do there…
Everyone is like ‘you threw Paudie under the bus and you turned on him’. I’m like ‘guys, he turned on me first’. That’s the game, you’re engaging in treacherous behaviour. It’s not called ‘buddies’, it’s about playing the game…
[Eamon and Paudie] had quite dominant, confrontational personalities. I was trying my best to mediate, because it was mostly the two of them that would be going for each other in the conclave.
I did lose my cool with Paudie in our last ‘toxic trio’ conclave, but the buildup to that didn’t really make it through to the audience.
But I loved having them as co-conspirators.
That makes sense. It is difficult for editors to include every piece of footage relating to a given event, with each episode lasting well under an hour when ad breaks are considered.
Regardless of this additional context, you get the sense that Paudie will remain the darling of most The Traitors Ireland viewers.
