Roma have effectively ruled out international duty for Ireland striker Evan Ferguson this week by insisting that he stays at the club to recover from his ankle injury.
The forward, on loan to Roma from Brighton this season, was last week named in the Irish squad by Heimir Hallgrimsson for the World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Hungary, even though Ferguson had been sidelined at club level by that ankle complaint.
