Sometimes I think my digital backlog is growing by itself in my sleep. But then I see a price tag slashed into oblivion and I realise I’m the villain in this story, willingly feeding the pile with impulse buys. Today’s round of bargains has me feeling smug about saving more than I spend, and I’m happy to share the highlights. Let’s get amongst it.

This Day in Gaming 🎂
In retro news, I’m belting a slime-shaped pinata with a ‘17’ on it for Dragon Quest IV: The Chapters of the Chosen. For many Aussies, said Nintendo DS port was our gateway into this legendary RPG series (due to non-existent local releases of the first three NES titles). It worked out kinda well because IV is the first entry in the Zenithia trilogy, and, despite its age, the episodic, time-hopping storytelling held up quite well (i.e., experience the backstories of your four future companions first, then, your hero quest to recruit them all). Ah, what a series.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch
On Switch, I couldn’t ignore Donkey Kong Bananza. The big ape has been synonymous with platforming excellence since 1981, when Shigeru Miyamoto snuck him into arcades as Mario’s first foe. Also, Street Fighter 6 is an irresistible pick. I’ve lost count of how many versions of Ryu I’ve uppercutted across the years, but Capcom always nails the comeback with new mechanics like the Drive System.

Exciting Bargains for Xbox
Over on Series X, Doom: The Dark Ages is particularly tempting. Few franchises can reinvent themselves across decades, but id Software still finds ways to make demons explode in interesting ways. Dragon Age: Veilguard Deluxe is another standout. BioWare’s world-building remains second to none, and the Veilguard premise brings fresh energy to a series that once redefined Western RPGs.

Today, PC’s biggest eyebrow-raiser is RoboCop: Rogue City. I grew up on Paul Verhoeven’s satirical brutality, so stepping back into Alex Murphy’s visor feels like a bizarre wish fulfilled. And Kingdom Come: Royal Ed. still impresses with its uncompromising realism, even if learning medieval swordplay felt harder than Dark Souls.RoboCop: Rogue City (-92%) – A$5.80 Half man, half machine, all discount.Kingdom Come Royal Ed.
