A Wicklow woman who stole a bottle of Britney Spears perfume from a local pharmacy has been remanded on bail for sentencing next year.
Abbie Glynn (19), with an address at 58 Hollybrook Park, Southern Cross, Bray, pleaded guilty at a sitting of Bray District Court to one count of theft from Vance and Wilson Pharmacy, Bray.
Judge David Kennedy gave Ms Glynn the right to choose whether the case would be heard in the District Court or Wicklow Circuit Court. She opted to have the matter dealt with immediately in the District Court.
The court heard that on December 9, 2024, Ms Glynn entered Vance and Wilson Pharmacy, Bray, and stole a bottle of Britney Spears perfume valued at €30. CCTV footage was later reviewed by gardaí, and Ms Glynn was identified and subsequently arrested.
Ms Glynn has 40 previous convictions, ranging from theft to assault.
Counsel for the defence, Thomas Finnerty BL, told the court that his client has struggled with addictions to crack cocaine, alcohol, and other substances.
Mr Finnerty described his client’s life as “chaotic and way out of control”. The court was told that Ms Glynn had recently been released from the Dóchas Centre after serving a three-month sentence.
Mr Finnerty noted that his client had engaged with services in the Dóchas Centre, adding: “It bodes well for the future.”
Judge Kennedy remanded Ms Glynn on continuing bail until sentencing on January 22, 2026.
