Prince Harry spoke publicly for the first time since his reunion with his father, King Charles III.

The father and son met at Clarence House on Wednesday, September 10.

The last time they saw each other was in 2024.

Prince Harry has spoken out following a highly anticipated reunion with his father, King Charles III, on Wednesday. People reported that they met at the King’s London residence, Clarence House, for tea, marking their first encounter since February 2024.

Hours later, Harry attended a reception in honor of his tournament for veterans and injured armed forces members, the Invictus Games.

“Yes, he’s great, thank you,” Harry said when asked about the King.

The Duke of Sussex last saw his father following the monarch’s announcement of his cancer diagnosis. In May, Harry gave an emotionally-charged interview to the BBC where he said, in part, that he would love reconciliation with members of the royal family. He also shared that he didn’t “know how much longer [his] father has” as he continues his cancer treatment.

Charles had been enjoying his summer holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and flew back to London on Wednesday. Harry arrived in the U.K. on September 8 and is here for a four-day visit.

Back in July—two months after Harry’s BBC interview—aides for both Charles and Harry met at a private members-only club in London, thought to be a good step forward in Charles and Harry seeing one another again.

On Wednesday, People reported that Harry was seen arriving by car to Clarence House, Charles and Queen Camilla’s London residence, around 5:20 p.m. local time. Their meeting reportedly lasted around 55 minutes, and what they discussed isn’t currently known.

“I would like to think the King will take that step toward reconciliation with Harry in due course,” historian Dr. Ed Owens told People earlier this year. It seems that due course is finally here, and doubles as an early birthday gift for Harry, who turns 41 years old on September 15.
