No injuries – Gardaí waiting on crane to remove vehicle

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a collision in Cork city this morning after a lorry loaded with steel overturned onto a footpath. Luckily, there were no pedestrians on it at the time and the driver of the vehicle was helped from it, shaken but unhurt.

The incident occurred shortly after 9am, when the truck was rounding the bend from Eglinton Street to Albert Street and was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

The lorry toppled onto an empty footpath outside a store. The driver, a man, was uninjured – Gardaí, firefighters and members of the national ambulance service were on the scene within minutes.

Officers have cordoned off a part of the footpath and a section of Albert Street. The motorist was assessed by members of the National Ambulance Service as a precaution.

Firefighters have left the scene, and Cork City Fire Brigade Second Officer Victor Shine told Cork Beo Gardaí are waiting on a crane to remove the vehicle from the road.

Albert Street is currently reduced to one lane.

He said: “It was a single vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 9am today. The truck was loaded with steel and overturned while taking the bend – thankfully, no injuries were reported. The driver was assessed by members of the National Ambulance Service.

“They are now waiting on a crane to remove the vehicle.”

A Garda spokesperson told Cork Beo: “Gardaí are currently attending a traffic collision that occurred in Cork City this morning, 13th of November 2025. At approximately 9:20am a truck overturned on Eglinton Street. The road is currently reduced to one lane with traffic management in place.

“No injuries have been reported. No further information is available at this time.”
