However, sources say that the early indications are that the man, named locally as Keith Lynch, was not the victim of foul play.

This was confirmed by gardai this evening, who added that the results of the examination are not being released for operational reasons.

A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.

Numerous tributes to the popular local man have appeared online.

News in 90 Seconds – Friday, November 14

“Very, very sad news to hear the passing of such a big-hearted man, Keith Lynch,” one person has written alongside a photo posted on Facebook.

“Always had time for ya bro, the parties, the laughs, random chats, it’s mental we won’t see ya again.”

Another has added: “Absolutely heartbreaking, such a sound fella.”

“RIP Keith,” another has added, “U were a true gentleman. Always there to help people in need. And a friendly kind hearted soul.”

Sources say that he was found face down outside a property.

It is understood that there was a lot of blood at the scene sparking a major garda investigation which is still in progress.

It is believed that a number of people witnessed Mr Lynch’s body including children going to school before emergency services arrived at the scene.

Gardai had made an earlier appeal for information in the tragic case.

“Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after a body was discovered in Dundalk, Co Louth, on the morning of Thursday, November 13,” they said.

“The deceased, a man in his 30s, was found shortly after 8am outside a residential property at Dúiche Roden.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the Dúiche Roden or Demesne Road areas of Dundalk overnight.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station,” the garda statement added.

The location where Mr Lynch’s body was found is close to where murdered mum Irene White was brutally stabbed to death in her home in 2005 in a case still being probed by Dundalk gardai despite convictions in the matter.

There is, however, no link between the two tragedies.
