NJEA members continue to build momentum for the campaign to achieve Tier 1 for Everyone pension dignity.

After weeks of educating and engaging members at lunch and learns and county and local Tier 1 for Everyone meetings and events, organizing efforts by county and local presidents far surpassed the goal of collecting 100,000 signatures – proving that NJEA members continue to fight for changes to the state’s broken, unfair pension system.

Members from across the state celebrated the success of collecting 111,124 petition signatures by hosting Days of Action.

Throughout the week, county and local associations held member engagement events where members wrote postcards or letters to their legislators asking for their support in getting A5160/S3997 and A5158/S3998 to Governor Murphy’s desk before he leaves in January.

For the next step of the campaign, join your fellow members for a lobby day on December 4 when NJEA leaders and members will deliver the petitions to the governor and legislative leaders. For those members who are unable to join that day, you can support the effort by wearing red to support public education.
