The family of a mum-of-three from Co Cork who sadly passed away last week have said ‘we feel as if we have lost a part of ourselves’ ahead of her funeral later today.
Alma KaranauskienÄ—, who was originally from Lithuania but had been living in Skibbereen for a number of years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12. Alma’s family said they are in ‘deep shock’ as they announced the sad news of her passing as they paid an emotional tribute to the hugely popular young woman who ‘knew how to brighten even the darkest day’.
“With immeasurable pain and endless sorrow, we announce sadly that Alma left us,’ the family said in a statement. “Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, relative and friend. In our hearts we feel as if we have lost a part of ourselves. The whole family, relatives and friends are in deep shock. Her light was special. She knew how to brighten even the darkest day and her smile, gentleness and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
“She was a person who shared her love quietly but strongly, so that there was enough for everyone around her. Today, it seems that our brightest day has faded and the darkest night has come. But when we look up at the sky, we will see the stars and one of them will shine the brightest. It is you dear Alma. You watch over us from above, light our way and remind us that love never dies.”
