Netflix has revealed the cast for Grown Ups, the upcoming adaptation of the popular Marian Keyes book, which will star Aisling Bea, Sarah Greene and Robert Sheehan and more.
The eight-part drama, which has started filming in and around Dublin, will follow the Casey clan, a noisy tight-knit Irish family. As the Caseys navigate the sudden death of “the good son”, they’ll be forced to face not only grief, “but the exhausting, relentless, and often ridiculous struggle of being an adult”.
Bea, Greene and Sheehan will be joined by Greene’s Bad Sisters costar Barry Ward, as well as Amy-Leigh Hickman, Adrian Dunbar, Sinéad Cusack and Karin Hanczewski. James Agnew, a recent graduate of Lir Acadamy, and Katelyn Rose Downey, who featured in Clean Sweep and Blade Runner 2099, also join the cast.
“Being part of this, seeing it all come together has been so exciting and so much fun,” Keyes said.
“I’m honoured by the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, I’m beyond grateful for all the care that’s been taken with my characters and most of all, I’m enormously proud.”
The Grown Ups announcement comes ahead of the release of The Walsh Sisters on RTÉ, a new series based on Keyes’ bestselling novels Rachel’s Holiday and Anybody Out There. That series will air on RTÉ One on September 28th at 9.30pm.
A release date for Grown Ups is yet to be announced, but with filming already under way, fans won’t be waiting too long.
