MORRO BAY, Calif. (WFLA) — A stranded sea otter pup was reunited with its mother with help from experts with the Marine Mammal Center.
On Oct. 20, around 11 a.m., experts at the Marine Mammal Center received calls to the response hotline from members of the public regarding a southern sea otter pup in Morro Bay, California.
After safely securing the pup in a carrier crate, the Center took a recording of the pup vocalizing which they played on a Bluetooth speaker once the pup was too tired to continue.
After around two hours of playing the pup’s vocalization, a female otter began following their boat and approached it repeatedly.
The team then placed the pup down in the water allowing the mother to grab it and start swimming with it.
Video taken by the center shows the joyous reunion as the mother otter approaches the pup, pulling it into her arms before floating away.
