National weather forecaster Met Eireann reports that there is a possibility that Ireland will experience snow showers tomorrow.

Tonight, temperatures as low as -1C are expected, and on Wednesday night there is due to be low temperatures of -3C. These chilly temperatures will be coupled with sleet and possibly even snow possible.

These wintry showers overnight will be joined by patches of frost and ice. These cold and potentially snowy conditions are the result of an arctic airmass moving over the country, lowering temperatures.

Weather Alerts Ireland says “very cold air is expected to push down over Ireland tonight bringing heavy showers, some falls as snow possible!” And Alan Reilly of Carlow Weather says: “Sunny spells and showers today Tuesday with Northerly wind increasing and once the showers clear South the real cold air moves in with a bitter windchill and some showers turning wintry. Main risk of snow is on high ground in North and Northwest.”

Reminding people to wrap up warmly while outdoors, he added that temperatures my even get as low as -8C over the next few days. “He said: “Wrap up. It’s going to feel cold out there and it’s going to get progressively colder.

“The wind chill on Wednesday and Thursday could be down to as low as -8C. Dig out the hats and scarves, it’s certainly much colder this week.”

Weather forecasters WX Charts are predicting snowfall in Ireland on November 19, 20 and into 21. These forecasts are very much subject to change, but the maps show that the north and west-midlands of the country will see the most snow, if any.

A maximum snow depth of 2cm is predicted on their maps currently. You can follow the maps for yourself on the WX Charts site.
