Ireland will be in pot three for Thursday’s World Cup play-off draw, meaning Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side face an away semi-final against either Poland, Wales, Czech Republic or Slovakia next March.

Last Sunday’s remarkable comeback victory away to Hungary booked Ireland’s place in the play-offs for next summer’s finals in North America and Heimir Hallgrimsson’s men will discover their opponents on Thursday when the draw takes place at Fifa headquarters in Zurich at midday Irish time.
