The search for a man reported missing in Tipperary last month has been stood down following the discovery of a body. Niall Brennan had been reported missing from his home in Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary, since October 13, and Gardaí issued multiple appeals for information during the search.

The 30-year-old’s family became concerned for his well-being after he failed to return home, and Gardaí issued a missing persons appeal on October 23. This was followed by a renewed appeal for information on October 30 after investigators managed to confirm a sighting of the young man at a retail premises in Mullinahone.

The five-week search ended in tragedy this evening, with Gardaí confirming that a body had been found and identified as that of the missing man. Gardaí thanked the public for their assistance throughout the missing person’s investigation.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of a man’s body, the missing person appeal for Niall Brennan (30) who was reported missing from Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary since Monday 13th October 2025, has been stood down. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.”

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Cork continue to appeal for information on the whereabouts of David O’Brien, who was reported missing from his home in the city earlier this week. Gardaí are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Mr O’Brien after he failed to return to his home in Blackpool on Saturday.

David O’Brien

David was last seen in Blackpool on Friday, November 14, at 9 pm. The 48-year-old stands at 5’10” in height with grey hair and blue eyes. Gardaí say they are concerned for David’s well-being, and anyone with information on his whereabouts has been asked to contact the investigating Gardaí.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are asking for the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of David O’Brien (48), who is reported missing from Blackpool, Cork city, since Saturday, 15th November 2025.

“David is described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height, with grey hair and blue eyes. David was last seen in Blackpool, Cork city on Friday, 14th November 2025 at 9:00 pm. Gardaí and David’s family are concerned for his well-being.”
