The first season was full of twists, action, and Srikant’s famous “lying” to his family. It introduced us to TASC, the deadly Mission Zulfiqar, and the dangerous villain Moosa. If you have forgotten the small details, do not worry. Here is a simple, episode-by-episode guide of everything that happened in Season 1.

The Family Man Quick Recap: Season 1 Episode Guide

The Family Man Recap The Family Man Season 1 Recap: All S01 Episodes Explained Before Tomorrow’s S03 Release

Episode 1: The Family Man

The story begins with Srikant Tiwari, a middle-class man who looks like a regular government employee. But in reality, he is a top spy for TASC (Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell). The episode shows his double life.

On one side, he is scolded by his kids and wife, Suchitra. On the other side, he catches three ISIS terrorists in the Arabian Sea. The main twist happens when the terrorists try to escape during transport. (According to TV Guide, Srikant also deals with a family crisis where his daughter Dhriti is almost suspended from school for carrying suspicious pills).

Episode 2: Sleepers

The danger increases. A scooter bomb blasts at Kala Ghoda in Mumbai. This creates panic in the city. Srikant and his team, including his best friend JK, start investigating.

They learn about a secret operation called “Mission Zulfiqar.” They suspect a connection with a student from Victoria College. Srikant orders his team to keep a close watch on a Dropbox location used by the terrorists.

Episode 3: Anti-National

The investigation focuses on a young engineering student named Kareem. Srikant suspects that Kareem is part of the terrorist gang.

Meanwhile, Srikant interrogates one of the captured prisoners to find clues. At home, things are tense. Suchitra is unhappy with Srikant’s behavior and starts getting close to her colleague, Arvind. The episode ends with Kareem realizing that he is being watched by the police.

Episode 4: Patriots

This episode has a shocking twist. Srikant’s team corners Kareem and his friends in a van. They think the boys are about to attack. In the confusion, the police shoot and kill Kareem and his friends. Later, they check the van. They find no bombs. They only find beef. Kareem was not a terrorist; he was just planning to protest against a politician who supported mob lynching. (As per Vakaao, this was a “misdirect of epic proportions” where TASC mistook a local revenge plan for a terror attack). To save TASC’s reputation, they label the dead students as terrorists.

Episode 5: Pariah

Srikant feels guilty about Kareem’s death. His boss sends him to Kashmir as a “punishment.” However, this is actually a secret plan. Srikant goes to Srinagar to find out more about Mission Zulfiqar.

In Mumbai, the real villain, Moosa, who everyone thinks is just an innocent victim, is actually plotting his escape from the hospital. He starts manipulating a nurse to help him.

Episode 6: Dance of Death

This is one of the most action-packed episodes. Terrorists attack the hospital to rescue Moosa. It is revealed that Moosa is not a victim; he is the mastermind behind the mission! He kills the agents guarding him and escapes. Srikant, who is in Kashmir, realizes he was chasing the wrong leads. The title “Dance of Death” fits perfectly as the hospital becomes a battlefield.

Episode 7: Paradise

In Kashmir, Srikant tries to track down another terrorist named Sajid. He gets a tip that Sajid is at a wedding in Baramulla. Srikant goes there undercover, but things go wrong. He is almost caught by the locals and has to run for his life. Back in Mumbai, TASC is in panic mode because they have lost Moosa, the most dangerous man in the plot.

Episode 8: Act of War

To stop the attack, Srikant needs information from an old enemy. He travels to Balochistan, Pakistan, without official permission. He meets a captured terrorist trainer named Faizan. Srikant uses his smart talking skills to get the truth. He finds out that Mission Zulfiqar is about releasing poisonous nerve gas in New Delhi. (According to Apocalypse, this episode shows Srikant’s bravery as he steps into enemy territory to save his country).

Episode 9: Fighting Dirty

The clock is ticking. The terrorists, led by Moosa and Sajid, are moving the nerve gas canisters from Kashmir to Delhi. They hide the gas cylinders in a truck. Srikant and his team try to track the truck on the highway. There are many close calls. Srikant also faces problems in his marriage, as Suchitra’s friendship with Arvind reaches a confusing stage at a hotel in Lonavala.

Episode 10: The Bomb

The season finale is a nail-biter. Moosa and Sajid reach a chemical factory in Delhi to release the gas. TASC agents Zoya and Milind reach the factory to stop them. A gunfight starts.

The Twist: Moosa changes his mind because his own mother is in Delhi. He tries to stop the gas leak.

The Betrayal: Sajid fights Moosa and kills him.

The Cliffhanger: The episode ends with the gas starting to leak. Zoya and Milind are trapped and calling for help. Srikant is far away. The screen cuts to black, leaving the fate of Delhi (and Srikant’s marriage) hanging in the balance.

Opinion & Methodology

Opinion

“The Family Man Season 1 is a masterpiece of Indian OTT. It changed how we see spy thrillers. It was not just about guns and bombs; it was about a middle-class dad trying to pay EMI while saving the nation. The ‘Kareem’ angle in Episode 4 remains one of the bravest writing choices in Indian web series history. As we move to Season 3 tomorrow, the stakes will be higher, but the magic of Season 1’s storytelling will always remain special.”
