How do we age so we are more independent? What exercises should we focus on? And how do we improve mobility from our 40’s onwards?

Clare Johnston, journalist and creator of the ‘Rebuilding Mum and Dad’ series on the Honest Channel on YouTube, joins Karl on this week’s episode of The Real Health podcast.

Clare spoke about how she became interested in the topic of ageing. She says, “I got more interested in skincare and I took it down that route of looking good as we age and then of course, as I started interviewing experts and getting into the science of it. The reality dawned on me that this is a head-to-toe job. This is aging from within and the superficial side of it slid away.”

The broadcaster told me about the importance of muscle as we age. She pointed out, “The reality is, I think we all thought we would reach a point in life of no return. When you’re in your eighties, if you’re frail, you can’t reverse frailty. But that’s exactly what gaining muscle can do and we can all regain it, which is fantastic. It’s such a positive message. We don’t have to become frail, so it’s been something of a revelation to us.”
