Oakfield Park in Raphoe has switched on the lights of Ireland’s tallest Christmas tree.
The giant tree stands at over 100ft tall – higher than seven double-decker buses stacked on top of each other!
More than 1km of colourful lights cascade from the centrepiece in the heart of the park.
Reports say the glow can be seen from vantage points as Ballyholey and Lifford. Have you spotted it yet?
First lit in 2024, the tree has been upgraded with a striking 6ft gold star illuminated on top. The new lights, affixed to weather any storm, have been programmed to twinkle in time to music.
Raising the pole is no easy task. It takes a digger to lift it into place.

Tonight’s unveiling marks the beginning of a season of magic at Oakfield Park as The Santa Express gets ready to roll into action.
From 28th November – 23rd December, Oakfield Park hosts an unforgettable family experience featuring elves, Mrs Claus and Santa himself.
Kids are invited to jump on board The Santa Express train and journey through the enchanted forests of the North Pole.

Santa waits in a cosy grotto with a warm smile and a special gift for every child.
There’s fun and games with the crafty elves and then it’s over to Mrs. Claus hard at work in her bustling Post Office. Over at the Holly Hut, Elf Cocoa is whipping up hot drinks to keep you toasty, and in the Treat Truck, Elf Potts has perfected Santa’s favourite cookie recipe. Tootsie’s Toyshop has doubled in size, bursting with surprises and magical gifts.

This year, Oakfield Park is excited to be opening up Santa’s Map Room, where you can sneak a peek behind the scenes and help Atlas the Elf prepare for Santa’s journey around the world. And for families who need a moment of calm, a Sensory Room has moved into a peaceful log cabin—a quiet space for anyone who needs it.
