Kerry is to receive a new Crisis Resolution Team (CRT) as part of enhancements to mental health supports in the county.

The information was provided to Fianna Fáil councillor Mikey Sheehy at the recent Regional Health Forum South West meeting.

The HSE has confirmed funding for a full multidisciplinary team – including nursing, medical, social work, OT, psychology, and admin supports – while a steering group has been formed and recruitment has begun.

Cllr Sheehy says the progress is encouraging and the service will help those in distress get timely, community-based support.

He added that it’s vital this service is fully operational across Kerry as soon as possible; and requested clarity around timelines.
