Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Lily and Holden talk (Y&R). We were really looking forward to Lily (Christel Khalil) and Holden (Nathan Owens) interacting. They’re both in a dejected place. Lily had seen Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Cane (Billy Flynn) mixing it up. Meanwhile, Claire (Hayley Erin) chose herself over anything serious with Holden. Unfortunately, their discussion focused on Holden learning that Cane’s company is in trouble. This was an opportunity for us to see if they could generate any sparks. Unfortunately, no walls came down between the two.

9. HIT: Dani and Andre’s vows (BTG). Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre’s Los Angeles honeymoon provided quality Dandre goodness, which included them realizing they were two puzzle pieces that just fit. And they bought rings to reflect that. After they were delivered, Dani and Andre (Sean Freeman) proceeded to recite new vows that were as serious as their Vegas wedding was un-serious. Their vows were touching, loving, and beautiful. With so many couples on BTG experiencing intense drama, upheaval, and conflict, it was refreshing to see these two be the show’s romantic oasis. And they exchanged “I Love Yous,” which was sweet.

8. MISS: Rachel does a quick 180 on Sarah. Too quick (DAYS). Whoa, whiplash here. Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Rachel (Alice Halsey) had such a good relationship…until they didn’t. Rachel spotted Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Sarah getting too close for her comfort, and she immediately switched to Scorched Earth Rachel. She dug deep and found out about Sarah raising her and kidnapping her. And about Sarah’s pistachio allergy. Cut to Rachel sneakily poisoning Sarah. Will this happen with every woman Brady gets close to? Nothing has even happened between Brady and Sarah. They just hugged.

7. HIT: The search for Luna (B&B). The rhythm of Thursday’s episode was decidedly different from the rest of the week. Daytime soaps, especially these days, are so talky. Characters don’t do much more than stand or sit and dialogue about everything, so when there’s action going on, we love it. The search party that set out after Luna (Lisa Yamada) got the characters moving. We appreciated that.

6. MISS: Lisa Yamada exits the show (B&B). Deputy Chief Baker (Dan Martin) insisted that Luna was dead. He also confirmed that she had lost the baby before any of this happened. But we still didn’t believe him until Lisa Yamada’s exit was announced. The Emmy-winner has been such a great addition to the show, and while this version of Luna had been written into a corner, we have high hopes that down the road, Yamada could return. A long-lost twin, anyone?

5. HIT: History Revisited (DAYS). The Peacock show revisited history in two different and interesting ways. Gabi helped give her daughter, Ari (Marissa Reyes), a different perspective on Sophia’s plight by finally telling her the details of her own teen pregnancy. Cherie Jimenez nailed these scenes, which resulted in Ari visiting Sophia (Rachel Boyd) with Aaron (Louis Tomeo), a great development. As alluded to earlier in this column, Rachel googled Sarah and learned about being switched at birth. That Sarah (and Greg Vaughan’s Eric) raised her for the better part of a year. Then they found out the truth. Sarah couldn’t handle it and kidnapped her and took her to Paris. So happy that Rachel knows the truth.

4. MISS: Dante blaming Gio again (GH). Here we are again. Although at least this time, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) did have some culpability, unlike that beach party where Rocco (Finn Carr) experienced alcohol poisoning. Gio and Emma (Braedyn Bruner) enlisted the teens to help them in their mission to bring down Professor Dalton (Daniel Goddard). However, they did call the mission off temporarily, but the kids went ahead and broke into the lab on their own. A guilty Gio owned up to what he did, and Dante didn’t care. The anger unleashed was understandable — the man is scared for Rocco. But his words were unfair to Gio. And right when it looked like Gio and Dante could have something special, they suddenly took ten steps back. UGH.

3. HIT: Nina, Gina, and Amy (Y&R). Yes, Danny’s (Michael Damian) and Christine’s (Lauralee Bell) wedding was the main focus, but what really had us feeling our feels had to do with Nina (Tricia Cast), Gina (Patty Weaver), and Amy (Valarie Pettiford). First, it was great to see Nina and Gina return for the nuptials. Second, the way Gina confronted Phyllis was great. Third, the satisfaction of seeing Nina and Amy finally call Cane out was worth the price of admission. It made us emotional. We needed Nina to come back when Chance (Conner Floyd) first died, but that didn’t happen. At least we finally got our moment to see her grieving her boy.

2. MISS: Martin chooses Eva over Kat (BTG). Every sibling in this scenario is hella wrong. Martin (Brandon Claybon) has no business being mad over the Samantha (Najah Jackson) business. Kat (Colby Muhammad) is beyond condescending with Kat. Eva (Ambyr Michelle) plays the victim too hard. She slept with her sister’s boyfriend but keeps spinning it to her advantage. Martin trashed Kat to her rival and essentially chose Eva’s side. It was painful to watch. How is a brother going to choose someone he has known for a second over a sister he has known his entire life? Where was the loyalty? He could have gone the neutral route, but he didn’t.

1. HIT: Jenz Sidwell (GH). This is the Sidwell we have been waiting for. We know what Carlo Rota is capable of, so this stealth, under-the-radar Sidwell we have been mostly getting has been frustrating. But we were patient, and this last week, the real Jenz Sidwell erupted. He cold-blooded killed Dalton in front of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). He had the professor’s body dumped in the trunk of Laura’s car (Genie Francis played the you-know-what out of those discovery scenes). And we will never, ever forget Sidwell’s Jason (Steve Burton) impression. We are not worthy, Mr. Rota.

Honorable MentionsB&B

MISS: Will (Crew Morrow) didn’t lock the door of the beach house. We don’t care that they thought Luna was locked up behind bars. They saw the jerk surfers who used the house’s outdoor shower. All doors to the beach house should have been locked.

BTG

MISS: Leslie bullies Laura. Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) bullies everyone, but it is especially hard to watch her antagonize sweet Laura (Destiny Love). It’s like a predator playing with their prey before eating it whole. We know she tried to kill Laura twice. Stop the gaslighting! Just avoid her. Hopefully, Laura will fight back hard one day.

DAYS

HIT: Sami’s ex-husbands commiserate. These were great scenes that featured Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) ex-husbands, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), Rafe (Galen Gering), and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), in The Brady Pub. They discussed Sami being engaged to Dante Vitali, a cousin of Ava (Tamara Braun). Love fun moments like that. Lucas and Rafe were at a table together, but EJ was relegated to the bar. Poor, EJ.

GH

HIT: Brook Lynn and Gio’s breakthrough moment. As frustrating as the Dante and Gio confrontation was, we were happy to see Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Gio bond. We’re currently not happy with Brook Lynn for a few different reasons. But this was a welcome development. He called her mom!

Y&R

MISS: Lucy wasn’t at Christine and Danny’s wedding. This could have been a real-life scheduling conflict. Regardless, the fact that Lucy wasn’t at Danny and Christine’s ceremony and celebration was beyond disappointing. We love Lily Brooks O’Briant. She is exceptional, and the character has great potential.
