A man aged in his 60s has tragically died following a house fire in County Cork.
The blaze started at a residence in the Noonan Road area of Cork City this morning, with emergency services being called to the scene at approximately 3am.
Members of the fire service found the man in the house, who was rushed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of his injuries before sadly passing away.
A post mortem examination will take place on his remains in due course.
Gardaí have opened an investigation into the cause of the blaze, but it is being suggested at this stage that the fire was started accidentally.
