All’s Fair star Glenn Close has hit back at the show’s “tough” reviews, following its disappointing debut. The legal drama landed a shocking 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes earlier this month, despite pulling in 3.2 million global views in three days on Hulu.
Though the score has since risen to 3% from 30 reviews, All’s Fair still faces widespread criticism online, with The Nightly declaring it “unwatchable”. However, Close has urged viewers to stick with the series, assuring them that the storyline does get better.
In an interview with Variety, the actor addressed the harsh reviews, claiming that critics had judged the show too quickly.
“I personally think that the first three episodes were the weakest. That was a tough way to start,” she said. “I’ve seen all nine episodes, and I think it actually adds up to something.”
All’s Fair stars Kim Kardashian as lawyer Allura Grant, who runs a successful LA law firm alongside her colleagues Liberty Ronson (Naomi Watts) and Emerald Greene (Niecy Nash-Betts). The all-female firm – Grant Ronson Greene & Associates – specialises in helping women navigate challenging divorces as they face off against their powerful husbands.

As well as dealing with difficult men, the leads regularly lock horns with their long-time rival Carrington Lane (Sarah Paulson). With Carrington knowing exactly how to get under her skin, how will Allura cope with her most personal divorce to date?
Elsewhere in the interview, Close praised reality star Kim for her professionalism and work ethic while filming the show. “What surprised me was Kim’s seriousness of intent,” she said.

“She always knew her lines. She never was late. She always was prepared. She had no pretensions that she was a great actress, but she was smart enough to have people around her who she could learn from.
“If she was a big ego or what I call a ‘life-is-too-short person,’ I would have been unhappy, but she’s not,” Close added.
The actor went on to suggest that Kim’s reputation as a reality star likely contributed to the show’s poor critical reception. She explained: “The Kardashians would say this themselves, but not everybody likes them. They have an image.”
All’s Fair is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
