Over 1,500 Donegal homes without power this afternoon

Over 1,600 homes are without power this afternoon in Donegal.

The biggest outage is in the Ballyshannon area, where 1,470 homes are affected according to the ESB.

Elsewhere 17 homes are without power in Laghey, 15 homes are experiencing outages in Glenties, and 11 homes are currently without power in Newtoncunnigham.

The outages in Ballyshannon and Laghey are expected to be fixed within the hour.

Meanwhile the outage in Glenties has a repair time of 4:15pm this afternoon, and power is expected to be back in affected Newtowncunningham homes by 5:15pm according to the ESB’s PowerCheck website.

The power outages come as Donegal is under status yellow weather warnings for both wind and rain.

Met Eireann advise that the wind warning will end at 4pm, whilst the heavy rain warning will remain in place until 9pm tonight.
