David Beckham recreated his viral “Be Honest” meme after Victoria Beckham revealed their Christmas tree

In the silly clip, David urged his wife to tell the truth about who really decorated the family’s home ahead of the holidays

The meme originated in 2023 when he interrupted an interview she was giving for his Netflix docuseries, Beckham

David Beckham is keeping Victoria Beckham honest as she’s showing off their luxurious Christmas decorations.

In a video posted to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, Nov. 22, Victoria, 51, unveiled the family’s Christmas tree. However, her 50-year-old husband urged the designer and pop star to “be honest” about who was responsible for the decorations in a funny reenactment of the viral moment from his 2023 Netflix documentary, Beckham.

“Okay, the tree is ready. I feel like an overachiever, I can’t lie,” Victoria said as she showed off the giant Christmas tree — decorated with lights, baubles and bows — on display in the living room. “It’s a big tree, and we’ve never been so ready for Christmas.”

“Be honest,” David said in the background, prompting Victoria to reply, “Oh my gosh, he’s here.” She panned the camera across the room to the retired soccer star, who had his head poking through the door.

“Be honest,” he repeated to her. “What do you mean?” Victoria asked.

“Did you really do that tree?” David asked her, to which she replied, “Of course, I did the tree!”

“Be honest!” David said again. Victoria laughed and reiterated, “Of course, I did the tree,” asking him, “Is it a nice surprise?”

“A very nice surprise. Mrs Claus,” responded David jokingly.

David’s response was inspired by the infamous “be honest” scene from the 2023 Netflix documentary series Beckham, in which David playfully interrupted Victoria during a solo interview after she said that both their families were “very working class.”

Before finishing her comment, David poked his head through the door and said to Victoria, “Be honest.” The clip got a wave of attention as the documentary aired to great fanfare.

In March, Beckham director Fisher Stevens confessed to PEOPLE that he was initially “quite upset” with David for interrupting Victoria then during filming.

“In that moment, I was quite upset with him for breaking into the scene when he wasn’t supposed to be home,” the 61-year-old documentary filmmaker said of the viral moment.

“He wasn’t supposed to be home, and he kind of hoodwinked me and eavesdropped because he was so insecure about what Victoria would say about him,” explained Stevens. “But it all worked out in the end, thank God. It actually worked.”
