Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted his team is ready to adapt this evening with Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko missing out but Joshua Zirkzee recalled to the starting XI. Sesko was expected to miss the game after he picked up a knee injury in the draw with Tottenham.
Cunha has picked up a knock and has missed out on the matchday squad. His absence opens the door for Zirkzee to start. He has played just 90 minutes over five league matches for the Reds this season but Amorim is confident he and his teammates are ready to deal with the changes.
Amorim told Sky Sports: “Yeah, it is always like that in any team, in a big team you need to be prepared for anything. You cannot point to any team in the Premier League that doesn’t have many injuries so we will be ready for that.
“We miss these players, especially Cunha and Ben, they change a lot of things for us but we are a different team, not just the guys who have come in but also from the team from last year.” Tonight is a major opportunity for United as they look to continue their climb up the Premier League table.
Defeats for Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend have opened the door to the top four. Should United win, they will be at least fifth but a comfortable victory would move them ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.
In terms of the other team news, it is more positive for Kobbie Mainoo, who did not travel to Spurs due to a knock. He has been deemed fit enough for a place on the bench after returning to training over the weekend. Harry Maguire does miss out after coming off injured against Spurs.
