Kate Beckinsale brought a story for the ages to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Nov. 24.
When Beckinsale, 52, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel‘s late night talk show to promote her new action movie Wildcat, she stopped discussing the film to make a wild claim: that her 26-year-old daughter Lily Sheen‘s boyfriend naturally laid two eggs in recent months.
The topic of the apparent egg-laying occured as she opened up about the difficult time her family has been through recently: her mother Judy Loe died of cancer at age 78 in July, and her stepfather Roy Battersby died at 87 in January 2024.
“We’ve had a tough couple of years, both my parents passed away within the last few years, and literally the only bright spot in the whole time came from him,” Beckinsale said of Sheen’s boyfriend, whom she did not name. “He laid two eggs in a week, is what the bright spot was.”
When Kimmel, 58, asked Beckinsale to clarify who laid an egg, she said that her daughter’s boyfriend did and insisted he produced an egg from his body that “had a shell and a yolk.” “He went to the bathroom and then was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg,” Beckinsale said. “I got very involved in this, because I really did need a distraction because everything was so horrible.”
According to Beckinsale, Sheen’s boyfriend — she shares her daughter with ex Michael Sheen — was “genuinely scared” when the incident happened the first time. She described the laid egg as “a hard-boiled one, too, it kind of cooked inside him.”
A rep for Beckinsale declined to comment on the actress’ anecdote.

“I thought at first, ‘Okay, this is a little bit embellished, obviously he can’t — this doesn’t happen.’ Also, there was a lot going on in my family, so I kind of went, okay, boyfriend’s laid an egg, whatever,’ ” Beckinsale added during her interview with Kimmel. “And then a week later my daughter was flying back to New York, which is where she — I got a text that says, ‘Oh my God, he’s done it again, and now he’s really freaking out,’ and he’s allergic to tree nuts, so we’ve had some emergencies, but this was more intense than a tree nut emergency.”
When Kimmel asked Beckinsale whether she believed Sheen’s boyfriend’s claims, she said, “I did because he was so scared.”
“I said to him, ‘Is this some kind of attention-seeking [thing], are you putting eggs up your bottom?’ I think it’s quite hard to put an egg up your bottom and then get it up whole without injuring the egg, I think that’s a skill,” she said. The second time this happened, though, her daughter sent her the photos — and she showed them to Kimmel and his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez.

“What in the world?” Kimmel said in reaction to the photos, which Beckinsale did not show to the audience or television cameras. “Your daughter’s boyfriend is the Easter Bunny!”
Beckinsale did not provide any more information about the apparent laid eggs, but she said she has communicated with several doctors about the matter and that “all of them basically said it was some sort of complicated masturbation thing, which it wasn’t.”
“So it’s my favorite thing he’s ever done and I really like him anyway, but it’s been a while and I’m ready for another one,” she added.
Wildcat is in theaters now.
