US President Donald Trump has said two National Guard troops shot blocks from the White House in downtown Washington were in a critical condition.
“The animal that shot the two National Guardsmen, with both being critically wounded, and now in two separate hospitals, is also severely wounded, but regardless, will pay a very steep price,” Mr Trump posted on Truth Social.
Police said they had detained a suspect.
“The scene is secured. One suspect is in custody,” The DC Police posted on X.
